General Meeting: “Finding Ethel: Utilizing Local and Regional Resources”

Marcia Holstrom
Tuesday, January 15, 6:45 - 8:30 pm
Santa Clara Central Park Library, Margie Edinger Room
Don’t tell Larry Page, but everything is not on Google. When you have reached the end of your exhaustive search through the myriad of Genealogy websites and even random Google searches, allow me to introduce you to Ethel. She has been working in the basement of the County Courthouse for many years, sorting and preserving documents and arranging them in a way that makes sense to her as a family historian. Those documents may even be indexed on her computer - which she will be happy to share with you.

We need to get as close to the original source as possible and local historians and genealogists have been recording and archiving those sources for many years. Our own SCCHGS has dedicated volunteers who have been indexing and archiving county records since long before and certainly before the DNA hoopla and they are still hard at work doing just that. Let Marcia help you understand what could be available out there and how to access those records.

Marcia taught Family History classes in Santa Clara County for 10 years and has been an active supporter of the Santa Clara County Historical and Genealogical Society for over 20 years.

Free and open to all. Light refreshments will be served 6:30 pm.
